MfB promotes healthy lifestyles with kids’ marathon

VFD Microfinance Bank has partnered with the Lagos Kids Mini Marathon 2024, an annual event hosted by the St. Saviour’s School Ikoyi Endowment Fund, to inspire children to embrace fitness, and cultivate healthy habits.

The bank’s Head of Marketing, Mr Bidemi Alfred, said in a statement on Thursday that the partnership would also support initiatives aimed at improving access to quality education for underprivileged schools.

Alfred noted that this collaboration underscores the Bank’s commitment to promoting active, health-conscious lifestyles among children while supporting charitable causes that uplift education and community well-being.

According to him, the bank is dedicated to fostering a healthier, more inclusive society by championing initiatives that support families, education, and community growth.

Meanwhile, Alfred disclosed that Funds raised through this year’s event will benefit the St. Saviour’s School Ikoyi Endowment Fund, contributing to developing less-privileged schools and communities across Nigeria.

“Scheduled to take place on Saturday, December 7th, 2024, the Lagos Kids Mini Marathon brings together families and communities to inspire children to embrace fitness, cultivate healthy habits, and support initiatives to improve access to quality education for underprivileged schools.

Less exercise and increasing access to unhealthy food and drink options are causing many children and teens to acquire poor lifestyle habits that lead to obesity.Children’s Hospital Colorado’s Head of Nutrition, Nancy Krebs, advised parents to strive to be role models for their children when it comes to healthy eating and drinking.

According to him, setting regular schedules for healthy eating and physical activity is important, especially for young children, because they’re more likely to adopt them as habits.
