The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has delivered a scathing assessment of Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration, claiming widespread failures across key sectors since he assumed office two years ago.
The party also dismissed former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s recent commendation of the governor’s performance, labeling it as unsubstantiated and insincere.
At a press conference held in Osogbo on Thursday, APC’s Director of Media and Publicity, Kola Olabisi, detailed the party’s midterm evaluation of Adeleke’s administration. He alleged shortcomings in education, agriculture, healthcare, and financial management, accusing the governor of prioritizing personal interests over the state’s welfare.
Olabisi described the governor’s performance in education as a “disaster,” citing the dismissal of 1,500 teachers hired by the previous administration without providing replacements. He also highlighted alarming shortages in public school staffing and high tuition fees.

“On education, Adeleke’s government has proven to be an irredeemable failure,” Olabisi said. “From the sack of 1,500 teachers employed by his predecessor without replacement to satanic fees in public schools, it is obvious the government does not mean well for the people of the state. In Atakumosa East, for instance, there exists just one Physics teacher.”
Olabisi further criticized fees at the newly established University of Ilesa, claiming they were excessively high compared to other state institutions.
“Law students are charged N1.5 million, and nursing students pay N1.2 million per session, whereas their counterparts at Osun State University are charged between N300,000 and N500,000 for the same courses. Why should UNILESA students pay such cut-throat fees if the government truly funds the institution?”
The APC also attacked Adeleke’s approach to healthcare, alleging that funds were being spent on superficial renovations rather than addressing the state’s healthcare infrastructure.
“The government continues to pour huge funds into painting and decorating health facilities previously revitalized by the Oyetola administration instead of rehabilitating health centers in dire need,” Olabisi said.
He similarly criticized the government’s performance in agriculture, claiming that it had failed to address food security and support farmers effectively.
Olabisi accused the governor of mismanaging state funds, citing an alleged increase in the 2023 budget for the Office of the Governor from N6 billion to N16 billion, with actual spending reportedly reaching N19 billion.
“Despite receiving substantial allocations from the Federation Account, the government prioritizes personal welfare over the pressing needs of the state,” Olabisi claimed.
The APC dismissed former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s recent praise for Adeleke, which was given during the inauguration of the Old Garage-Oke Fia-Lameco Osogbo dual carriageway.
“Obasanjo once claimed the Port Harcourt refinery wouldn’t work, but it is now operational. Whatever he said about Adeleke’s performance, he likely meant the opposite,” Olabisi quipped.
The APC’s critique sets the stage for an intensifying political battle as Adeleke approaches the final stretch of his tenure.
