Counsel to the embattled radio presenter, Chinonso Uba, aka Nonsokwa, has appealed for his immediate release on the condition of his health, which he said is deteriorating.
The counsel, Charles Mgbekeonye, made the appeal after the prosecuting attorney in a written application, requested an adjournment of the matter to enable him to file more charges—an appeal the judge granted.
Mgbekeonye pleaded with the Imo State Government to withdraw the charge against the radio presenter and facilitate his release, informing them that his health condition is deteriorating on a daily basis.
He said that his legal team is working round the clock to ensure that the embattled broadcaster is released.
The counsel further said that he is optimistic that justice will prevail.
The embattled on-air personality had, on October 23, 2024, appeared before a Magistrate Court sitting in Owerri on allegations of conspiracy, treason, arson and other charges levelled against him by the Imo State Police Command.
The magistrate court, on hearing the matter, declined jurisdiction over it, which led to his continued detention at the state correctional service centre.
DAILY POST reports that the High Court in Owerri hearing the matter fixed November 26, 2024, to look into an application filed for his bail.
