The Agbokim Water Falls Marathon In Ikom LGA of Cross River State has kicked off with winners in the male and female categories expected to go home with at least N5,500.000 price money.
The maiden edition of the 42km Agbokim Falls Green Marathon commenced Saturday and will see athletes traversing the trans-Africa international highway from Ikom LGA to Etung LGA and terminating at the famous Agbokim Water Falls.
Winners are to win N2m, N1m and N750k each for first, second and third place positions respectively and other consolation prizes, including special prizes for local participants.
A contingent of no fewer than 20 athletes from Plateau State are participating in the inaugural Agbokim Falls Green Marathon.
The team comprises of long-distance running Coach, Stephen Diko who expressed optimism about their chances in the 42km marathon.
“We’ve trained extensively and are ready to take on the challenging course.
“We’re excited to explore the scenic Agbokim Falls and showcase our skills.”
The spokesperson, Emem Udom-Inyang assured participants of a well-organized and secure competition.
