The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti has called for the resignation of former Governor Ayodele Fayose, citing anti-party activities.
Dare Adeleke, PDP caretaker chairman in the state, made the call at a press briefing on Sunday in Ado Ekiti.
He condemned Fayose’s public endorsement of Governor Abiodun Oyebanji, an All Progressives Congress (APC) member, for a second term.
Fayose’s endorsement of Oyebanji, who is seeking re-election in 2026, has strained relations within the PDP.

Adeleke emphasized that Fayose’s actions are a direct affront to the party’s values and unity. “His public declarations and serial endorsement of the opposition are in a direct affront to the values and unity of our party,” Adeleke stated. “I strongly condemn these actions and encourage him to take the bold and honest step of officially decamping.”
The Ekiti PDP has accused Fayose of prioritizing personal interests over party loyalty. Adeleke questioned the basis for Fayose’s support of Oyebanji, citing the governor’s alleged failures in infrastructure, health, security, and education.
Last week, the Ekiti PDP requested the party’s national working committee (NEC) to suspend Fayose. The caretaker committee recommended expulsion, citing Fayose’s anti-party activities. The PDP’s disciplinary committee, headed by Chief Tom Ikimi, is expected to address the issue.
