A non-profit organisation, Julius Agenmonmen Foundation has announced that it has embarked on its first medical outreach to two communities: Ubulu-Uku in Delta State and Uromi in Edo State.
According to a statement by JAF, the outreaches held recently with Zuri Health in the two states represent a significant step toward improving healthcare access for underserved communities in Nigeria.
It noted that over 2,000 community members benefited from essential healthcare services, including dental and eye care, laboratory tests, general consultations, and pharmacy services.
Speaking on the success of the outreach, the co-founder, Dr Uche Agenmonmen, said, “We are reaching those in our society who don’t have access to quality healthcare. At these medical outreaches, we are focusing on eye care to ensure that people enjoy good vision throughout their lifetime. It is one of the key measures we are taking to prevent blindness in these communities.”
The statement mentioned that the foundation’s long-term commitment to healthcare began with a pledge Julius Agenmonmen made during his 60th birthday celebration.
It stated that the pledge was fulfilled with the donation of eye diagnostic equipment to St Camillus Hospital in Uromi, Edo State, in April 2023.
The statement further noted that the hospital holds personal significance for him, as it was where he was, marking a full-circle moment in his journey of giving back to his community. By December 2023, over 1,000 patients had received treatment, significantly enhancing access to eye care for the Esan community and surrounding areas.
It added that the medical outreach represents a milestone in JAF’s ongoing mission to expand access to quality healthcare for those in need.
According to the co-founder, Julius Agenmonmen; “Last year, my wife and I established the Julius Agenmonmen Foundation as a way of giving back. Having faced my health challenges, I was fortunate enough to have the resources to take care of them. We wanted to express our gratitude to God, and we felt the best way to do that was by helping the underserved and less privileged in our society,” Agenmonmen stated.
“JAF remains committed to expanding its reach, ensuring that more people in need can benefit from accessible, high-quality healthcare,” the statement added.
