The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), on Sunday, cried foul over the local government elections held in Kaduna and Kogi states, citing gross irregularities and vowing to challenge the results in court.
The Kaduna State Independent Electoral Commission (KAD-SIECOM) and Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission (KOSIEC) conducted the elections across 23 local government areas on October 19, 2024.
KAD-SIECOM declared All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates winners of 23 chairmanship positions and 255 councillorship positions.

Chairman Hajiya Hajara Mohammed confirmed the results, stating eight parties participated, with APC sweeping all positions.
Similarly, KOSIEC announced APC won 21 chairmanship seats and 239 councillorship slots. Chairman Mamman Nda-Eri praised APC’s performance, noting they dominated all positions, leaving none for the 18 opposing parties.
However, Kaduna State PDP Chairman Edward Masha alleged significant irregularities. Masha expressed concerns over missing ward and local government result sheets, compromising election integrity. “We discovered result sheets were missing. This omission compromised the elections’ integrity,” he said.
Masha accused APC of undermining democracy, stating, “APC appointed chairmanship candidates, killing democracy.” He vowed to challenge the process in court, seeking justice for the people. “We won’t accept this charade. We’ll challenge this process and seek justice,” he emphasized.
