Six secondary schools have qualified for the final stage of the 2024 Tax Club competition in Kwara State.
The competition is organised by the Kwara State Internal Revenue Service, KW-IRS, in collaboration with the Kwara State Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development for Secondary Schools in the state.
DAILY POST recalls that the preliminary stages of the competition, held from 24th June to 4th July 2024, where 83 out of the 154 registered schools sat for the quiz from the comfort of their respective schools and 12 schools qualified for the semi-final stage.
Six finalists emerged at the end of the semi-final held between Tuesday, 8th and Wednesday, 9th October 2024 as an online Computer Based Test (CBT) with appropriate back-end monitoring by members of the KW-IRS Tax Club Advocacy Committee alongside the representative of the Honourable Commissioner, Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development, Mrs Roseline Ayansola.
The qualified schools are Eucharistic Heart of Jesus Model College, Asa Dam; Government Secondary School, Lafiagi; Shepherd Secondary School, Lafiagi; Government Day Secondary School, Gaa-Akanbi; Kwara State College of Education Model Secondary School, Oro; and Anglican Boys’ Academy, Oro.
The six schools will compete for the N2.5 million grand prize at the final stage of the competition, which will hold in Ilorin on 7th November, 2024, according to a statement by the Corporate Affairs Department, KW-IRS.
