Police made their grim discovery around 9am on Friday local time, after they forced entry to her flat and found the dead content creator naked in bed.
The 36-year-old, known online as La Barbie Regia and Ana Fabiola, had suffered stab wounds to her neck and injuries to other parts of her body and is said to have been discovered with a pillow over her face.
The influencer lived in the Mexican city of Monterrey.
The Mexican beauty had more than 10,200 fans on Instagram under the name Ana Fabiola.
She described herself as an “entrepreneur of love, beauty queen and model” as well as a Catholic and fan of Monterrey-based football club Tigres.
Her last post on the site showed her dancing provocatively to music in a thong and skimpy top.
In another recent post on her Instagram she published a selfie alongside a message which said: “A smile is the curve that sets everything straight.”
Local reports said a man believed to be Cindy’s boyfriend used to visit her regularly at her apartment in an area of Monterrey known as Leones, arriving in a black car or white van.
It is not yet clear if he has already been tracked down and questioned
Investigators are probing whether the murder victim’s work as an escort also played a part in what happened to her.
One female fan wrote online: “I didn’t know her personally but her murder shocked me.
“I’ve read that many people poked fun at her because she was a ‘you know what’ but there’s no justification for someone ending another’s life like that and leaving a little boy orphaned and a family heartbroken.”
Another said: “I imagine there are cameras in the area and hopefully this crime won’t go unpunished.
“It doesn’t matter what she did, she didn’t deserve to die in that way.
“Nobody has the right to do something like this.
“I hope Cindy gets justice and that God protects her son from anything bad.”
No arrests have been made.
