The Pan Pacific Orchard Hotel in Singapore is nothing short of an architectural wonder.
The lush hotel has more than 340 rooms spread across 23 storeys with more than 100 different species of plants.
The award winning hotel opened in June 2023 and has aalso won three other awards, including the best tall building between 100m and 199m (328 ft – 652ft) tall.
Picking up the gong for the world’s best skyscraper is no easy feat for the lush hotel, with the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat recognising the hotel’s commitment to sustainability.
The council’s chief executive Javier Quintana de Una said in a statement the hotel “represents the best of responsible vertical urbanism today”.
The statement added: “By holistically incorporating greenery into its design, Pan Pacific Orchard honours Singapore’s heritage while pushing the envelope of sustainable urban development in a dense, urban setting.”
Designed by Singapore-based Woha Architects, the 350-room hotel’s design brings the island’s four environments – forest, beach, garden and cloud – into one dramatic building.
At the Forest Terrace, guests step into a lobby with a high ceiling, dotted with soaring trees.
Inside the green space is a breathing forest pond made alive with algae and a giant waterfall.
A floating bar has been built just near the pond for guests to have drinks while enjoying the serene beauty of nature.
Meanwhile the Beach Terrace is complete with emerald pools, and a sandy “beachfront” for guests who want to enjoy the sun.
The Garden Terrace features a manicured garden, complete with a verandah, event lawn, fountains and garden.
The Cloud Terrace serves spectacular views with its pillarless ballroom, one of the highest in Singapore and can sit 400 people for lavish events
Speaking to CNN architect Hong Wei Phua of WOHA, said: “You experience the hotel not as a very big building, but at more of a neighbourhood scale.”
It is sheltered with a green canopy fitted with photovoltaic panels that turn sunlight directly into usable energy.
Inside the Cloud terrace is a 400-seat ballroom and an event plaza for guests wishing to host lavish parties in style.
