Cristiano Ronaldo’s sister Elma Aveiro has torn into ‘ball boy’ Antonio Cassano after the Italian’s remarkable attack on the legendary forward.
Cassano played 39 times for Italy and enjoyed a club career with the likes of Roma, AC Milan, Inter, Sampdoria and briefly with Real Madrid.
The former striker left the Bernabeu a year before Ronaldo arrived in 2009 so never played with the iconic forward, but he does have a strong opinion on him.
The 42-year-old told the Viva El Futbol podcast: ‘Cristiano Ronaldo doesn’t know how to play football. He could score 3000 goals, I don’t give a f*ck.
‘[Gonzalo] Higuain, [Sergio] Aguero, [Karim] Benzema, [Robert] Lewandowski, [Zlatan] Ibrahimovic and [Luis] Suarez knew how to link-up with the team.
‘They knew how to do a lot of things, unlike Ronaldo whose only objective has always been to score.’
It is not the first time Cassano has spoken negatively about Ronaldo, saying in 2022 during his second stint at Manchester United: ‘A guy like Cristiano has to think about himself and if you can’t do it anymore then you have to call it a day. It’s a rule in all sports. Retire, that’s enough!’

Aveiro has not taken kindly to Cassano’s latest comments, dismissing the ‘ball boy’ and his entire football career in the process.
‘One wakes up to these things,’ she wrote on Instagram. ‘I don’t know this poor guy.
‘It doesn’t matter, but just one thing for him, he doesn’t know how to score 900 goals. Imagine if he did. They say he was a footballer. I think they’re wrong, he was certainly a ball boy.’
Ronaldo scored his 900th career goal earlier this month as he netted in a 2-1 win over Croatia for Portugal.
He has since scored three more times, most recently for Al Nassr on Friday night in a 2-0 victory over Al Wehda.
