Following the Nigerian Meteorological Agency’s prediction on the expected torrential downpour in the coming days, the Katsina State, has taken measures to mitigate possible flood disasters in seven local government areas of the state.
The Secretary to the Katsina State government, Abdullahi Faskari, while addressing stakeholders on behalf of Governor Dikko Umar Radda on Thursday, in Katsina, said the meeting was to alert all the prone areas to be on the look for immediate action.
Faskari said, “Funtua, Bakori, Katsina, Bindawa, Daura and Kaita local government areas were indicated by the prediction where they may likely be prone to floods.
“This is to remind ourselves of the need to sensitise the affected areas because of its importance that we have to converge together and be reminded about the ugly incidence of heavy rainfall.”
PUNCH Online learnt that Katsina State is among the states in Nigeria recently affected by flooding just as about 234 locations that were ravaged by floods have so far received internally displaced persons.
