Adamawa community monarch leads night patrols against kidnappers, robbers

The traditional head of Kofare Wauru Jabbe in Yola South Local Government Area, Adamawa State, the Mai Jimilla, Bashiru Ahmadu, has commenced a regime of night patrols with youths and local security guards around his community.

The patrols are meant to deter bandits, kidnappers and armed robbers who have recently been troubling the community.

The Kofare Wauro Jabbe traditional ruler spearheads the community-led night patrols to secure the community with the participation of security personnel, residents, and youths.

“His involvement has united the entire community, setting an example of leadership and dedication,” a resident of the community, Gansi Gabriel said, adding that under the royal father’s guidance, local residents, security personnel, and youths have banded together to protect their homes from the threats of criminals.

Speaking personally on the initiative, the Mai Jamila said his direct participation in the night patrol has inspired volunteers to join and foster a spirit of resilience among the residents.

He thanked Governor Ahmadu Fintiri for his support; as well as the Lamido of Adamawa, Dr Muhammad Barkindo Aliyu Mustafa, the Hakimi of Yola Alhaji Zubairu Adamu Mustafa, and the Divisional Police Officer of Kofare for their cooperation and mentorship.

He said their encouragement had greatly strengthened the community’s security efforts.

DAILY POST gathered Monday that under Mai Jimilla’s leadership of the community-led security efforts, local security personnel provide essential expertise while residents and youths contribute their knowledge of the area to move against criminal elements.

The involvement of the town’s youths has been noted to be particularly crucial, as their energy and familiarity with the neighbourhood allows them to be effective in monitoring the community.

Armed with basic communication devices and lighting tools, the patrol teams, including Mai Jimilla himself, move through critical areas of the town, and the community.
