NMA Decries Fake Doctors’ Activities Doctor’s’Activities Of Fake Doctors

Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) in Enugu State has decried the activities of fake doctors in the state.
NMA chairman in the state, Dr Sunny Okafor, who spoke in an interview with our correspondent in Enugu, expressed worry that people have continued to patronise them despite the damage they have continued to cause to people.

He said most times, the fake doctors do a lot of damages to the patients before they come to the teaching hospitals and other approved medical facilities to see qualified doctors.

The NMA boss said it was unfortunate that at the end, when some of the patients who patronise the fake doctors die, some people would attribute the cause to the qualified doctors.

He therefore urged people to stop patronising imposters who have continued to parade themselves as doctors and treating people.

He commended the Enugu State governor, Peter Mbah for increasing and paying the hazard allowance from N40,000 to N45,000 since July last year.

He noted that Mbah has made a radical shift from the past in the medical sector but expressed dissatisfaction that their members were not included in the committee for minimum wage.

He also attributed brain drain in the medical sector to poor remuneration and insecurity, especially kidnapping of doctors.

He called on the government to do more to secure the lives of medical doctors with a view to preventing their abduction by criminals.
