Yobe Killings: Ex-Senate President Lawan condoles victims

Former President of the ninth Senate, Dr Ahmad Lawan has condoled the families of victims who lost their lives in the recent insurgent attack on Mafa village in Tarmuwa Local Government Area of Yobe State.

The attack, which occurred at about 4pm on Sunday, September 1, 2024, resulted in the deaths of several innocent civilians and the burning and destruction of properties.

In a statement sent to DAILY POST on Tuesday in Abuja, Lawan strongly condemned the heinous act of violence and extended his condolences to the bereaved families.

“Similarly, I condole His Excellency, the Yobe State Governor, Rt. Hon. Mai Mala Buni, the Yobe state Government and the entire people of Yobe state.

“I call on the security agencies to intensify efforts in tracking down the perpetrators of this heinous and dastardly act and bringing them to justice.

“I call on the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA and North East Development Commission, NEDC to dispatch medical personnel and relief materials to the affected community to provide necessary assistance and support to the injured and displaced residents.

“I urge the people of Tarmuwa Local Government Area to remain calm and vigilant, and enjoin them to report any suspicious activities to the security agencies for prompt response.”
