Not fewer than eight terrorists have been eliminated while arms and ammunitions were recovered by troops of the Nigerian Army in Kaduna State.
A statement by the Nigerian Army on its official X handle, said troops engaged the terrorists in a gun duel in the general areas of Kampani Doka and Rifigoro communities in Birnin Gwari local government area of the state.
The Army said troops carried out offensive operations into the terrorists’ stronghold near Kampanin Doka where they met strong resistance from the terrorists.
“In a shootout that lasted for hours, the gallant troops subdued the criminal elements with superior fire power, thereby neutralising 7 of the terrorists,” it said.
According to the statement, troops recovered three AK-47 rifles, eight AK 47 magazines with 4 fully loaded with 120 rounds of 7.62mm Special, a magazine carrier, 6 motorcycles, three mobile phones, two Baofeng communication radios, and three pairs of civil clothes.
In a related development, the Nigerian troops conducted offensive operations at Gayam village of the same local government area, killing a notorious insurgent leader while some of his accomplices fled with gunshot wounds, leaving behind their weapons and equipment.
Items recovered by the troops in the operation include a PKT machine gun with eight rounds of ammunition, a Baofeng radio, multiple communication devices, one SMF magazine and 14 mobile SIM cards.
