He had long had concerns over the size, with the condition having plagued his dating and sex life.
But instead of living in embarrassment, Michael has his sights set on getting his winning a Guinness World Record title.
The average penis size in the UK ranges from 3.5 to 5.8 inches.
Michael, who lives in North Carolina, says his penis measures under an inch.
He was first made aware of his unusual condition in high school, when he revealed the size to a girl for the first time.
However, he was met with laughter and has since given up on dating life.
Michael’s condition means he is unable to have sex and has to urinate sitting down, while he also says he’s reminded of his issue every time he visits a bathroom.
He told The Sun: “I was actually looking to see if there is a Guinness world record for the smallest and see if I can enter for that.
“I try to turn a negative into a positive, so I’m trying to make everything a positive – so if I can get a title out of it then great.”
He added: “I went to the doctor about four or five months ago with concerns over my penis size. I was informed there is a condition called a micropenis.
“I was referred to a urologist. I was always aware it had been small, but wasn’t aware there was a condition for it.
“The main reason I went to the doctor was because my penis is actually too small to have sex at all.
“I have had a couple experiences of having sex and wasn’t able to get it in and everything. From there I just stopped trying to date and lost interest in it.”
The condition has had a huge impact on Michael’s confidence, but he remains unsure over whether to undergo surgery to have his size increased.
Penis enlargement surgery can increase length and girth.
Lengthening surgery involves dividing the suspensory ligament, which holds the penis close to the pubic bone and supports it when erect.
To increase girth, fat is taken from the stomach and the inner thighs.
Michael continued: “I wanted to see if there was anything that could be done to make it bigger.
What is penis enlargement surgery?
FOR many men, going under the knife to increase the size of their manhood is a step too far.
There are two main types of penis enlargement surgery, according to Superdrug Online Doctor.
The first claims to make your todger longer when it’s not erect. To achieve this, a surgeon cuts into one of the ligaments which attach the penis to the hip bone.
This drops the angle of the penis, which makes it longer when it’s flaccid, Superdrug said.
“On average, successful penis lengthening surgery increases the length of the flaccid penis by 0.65-1.8cm,” the chemist went on.
But it noted: “There’s no change to the length of the penis when it’s completely erect.”
You can also surgically make your penis larger by widening it. A surgeon will take take fat from other parts of the body and transplant it into the penis to get this result.
This type of procedure on average increases your girth by 1.5 to 3.35 cm when flaccid or 1.2 to 2.75 cm when erect, according to Superdrug.
But it noted that there are drawback to this surgery – studies indicate that your body can reabsorb up to 30 per cent of the fat injected into your penis in the first two months after the procedure.
And some men might experience scarring or changes in the shape of their penis.
Men can also opt for a penile implant surgery – this won’t increase your penis size but it can help improve erections if other erectile dysfunction treatments haven’t worked.
“There are some surgeries, but they would only be able to add about an inch, inch-and-a-half.
“I’m thinking about it, but if that’s all that I would be able to gain then I would still be within the spectrum of a micropenis, so I’m not sure if it would be worth it.
“I’m still processing it all and have appointments to decide what my next move is.”
Michael has said the issue is “on his mind all day”, with constant reminders every time his visits a toilet.
He said: “You have to see it every time you go to the bathroom. With this condition, going to the bathroom is even more challenging. I can’t stand to pee, I have to sit down. It makes it difficult when you’re out in public.
“I had tickets to an NFL game, but you go to a restroom and it is just urinals lined up that I can’t use.”
But he remains upbeat, often travelling around the world and documenting his visits through his Instagram @whutzhisphaze.
He currently has six trips booked taking him across the Caribbean and Europe and wants to return to his favourite place in the world, Bermuda.
Penis enlargement surgery – the procedure
The lengthening surgical steps include:
A half-moon incision (at the area where the penile shaft connects to the pubic bone)
Cutting of the suspensory ligaments
Implanting a silicon buffer or testicular implant between the public bone and penile shaft (to prevent re-attachment of the ligaments
Closing of the incision (using absorbable stitches)
Then comes the fat injection:
Abdominal or thigh fat suction
Fat preparation (processing to remove any non-fat tissue)
Fat injection at the base of the penis
