The Edo State governorship candidate of the National Rescue Movement (NRM) for the forthcoming election in the state, Dr Dennis Osahon Aikoriogie, yesterday, defected with over 5000 of his supporters to the All Progressives Congress (APC), saying it is time to redeem the state.
Addressing journalists during his defection at the APC rally at the Textile Mill road in Benin, he said he was moving from his party, NRM to the APC because of the personality of the candidate of the APC, Senator Monday Okpebholo, whose developmental track records speak volume even just as a senator representing Edo Central Senatorial District.
Dr. Aikorogie said if Senator Monday Okpebholo could perform wonderfully well in his senatorial district as a senator, he believes that he has the capacity to turn the fortune of the state around if voted as the governor of the state.
“I am here today to lend my support for the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Senator Monday Okpebholo and his deputy, Dennis Idahosa.
“I am coming with my teeming supporters, my members and my party faithful to come and lend our support for the candidacy of Monday Okpebholo because we believe in his person because he is reliable and he is a doer. This time around, we need people who do things and not people who talk and no action.
“Senator Monday Okpebholo has been relating with the people, you can see and even from his senatorial district, even before he became a senator.
“You know he has been relating with his people. Someone like him as governor who has sympathy for the people and not people who came all the way from the blues and want to govern the state without any track records of human relationship or corporate social responsibility for the people”, Aikorogie said.
Aikorogie who said he is moving with over 5000 of his followers to the APC, admonished the people of the state not to be deterred by what is happening at the federal government level but should trust in the ability of Senator Okpebholo.
“My advice is for the people to join hands and vote in the APC despite what is happening at the federal government level. we believe that with the new administration of Okpebholo, Edo State will be different.
“We are going to experience economic development, youths employment, infrastructure development and a lot more. We must redeem Edo State from corporate brigandage”, Aikorogie added.
While expressing confidence in the party’s winning the forthcoming governorship election, he said it is time for the party to sack the PDP government from the state.
