A young girl has been stabbed in a block of flats in Christchurch, Dorset.
The girl, who is eight years old according to the Bournemouth Daily Echo, was found wounded at a property on Gilder Close at 5.45pm yesterday.
She was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
A man in his 20s, from Christchurch, has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.
A second local, a woman in her 50s, has been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.
Both remain in custody.
The block of flats was cordoned off into the night as officers conducted door-to-door inquiries. An air ambulance had landed near the scene.
Gilder Close is a small road in a residential neighbourhood just near an industrial estate in east Christchurch, a town about five miles from Bournemouth.
Chief Superintendent Stewart Dipple: ‘There is an increased policing presence in the area as officers conduct enquiries at the scene.
‘I am appealing to anyone who was in the area and saw what happened, or has information to assist our investigation, to please come forward.
‘Our enquiries are in the early stages and we would ask the public not to speculate at this time about the circumstances of the incident.
‘I understand this will cause concern and we will have members of the neighbourhood policing team out on patrol over the coming days who can be approached by the public.’
