Four Brits are believed to be missing after a £14 million sailboat sank off the coast of Porticello on the Italian island of Sicily.

The 160-foot yacht, named the Bayesian, got into trouble in the early hours of this morning after a sudden tornado hit the area.

Seven people were missing – understood to be four Brits, one Canadian, and two Americans – while 15 have been rescued.

A man’s body has since been found but his nationality is unconfirmed.

A Foreign Office spokesperson told Metro.co.uk: ‘We are in contact with the local authorities following an incident in Sicily, and stand ready to provide consular support to British nationals affected.’
