Tesco is recalling one of its meat-free burgers over the risk of burning your tongue when you eat it.

The Plant Chef 2 meat-free burgers with melting middle have a potential burn risk because of that melting middle.

It’s feared the centre of the burgers could retain a high temperature once cooked, leading to the burn risk.

The product affected is the 240g pack of two burgers, with all batch codes included in the recall.

This recall is being carried out as a precautionary measure, and it’s not yet known if anyone has reported burning their mouth due to the Plant Chef burgers.

The Food Standards Agency, which published the recall notice, said: ‘The company have issued a recall notice to their customers.

‘This notice explains to customers why the product is being recalled and tells them what to do if they have bought the product.

‘If you have bought the above product do not eat it. Instead return it to any Tesco store for a full refund (no receipt required) or contact the Tesco Customer Service on 0800 505 555.’
