A fire roared through an apartment building in Paddington, central London, this evening.
The blaze broke out on the ninth floor of the flats just above Heist Bank pub on the corner of Hermitage Street and N Wharf Road, at 8.46pm.
Locals and pub-goers were told to evacuate, with the neighbourhood home to several office blocks, high-end flats and an all-boys school.
‘People waiting outside the building were alerted to the fire when glass in a 7th-floor window smashed,’ a witness told GB News.
Footage from the TV channel showed acrid smoke spewing out of both sides of the building.

The cause of the fire, which was brought under control at 9.42pm, is unclear.
No one was injured.
The fire brigade said: ‘Eight fire engines and around 60 firefighters have been tackling a fire at a block of flats on Hermitage Street in Paddington.
‘A flat on the ninth floor of the building was alight. There are no reports of any injuries at this time.
‘The fire has been brought under control but members of the public are asked to avoid the area whilst firefighters work to fully extinguish the fire.
‘The Brigade’s Control Officers received more than 10 calls about the fire.’
