Abia State government has engaged two consulting firms to rehabilitate and upgrade long abandoned Enyimba Hotel, Ltd, Aba to a 5-star status.
The commissioner for information and culture, Okey Kanu stated this while briefing the press on this week’s executive council meeting chaired by the governor, Alex Otti.
He said the hotel would be expanded beyond its present premises across the Blue River up to the popular Ahia Udele to accommodate an international conference centre among other facilities.
The commissioner also announced that the government had procured a contractor to handle erosion menace in Ovom community in Obingwa local government.
“This is very gratifying, as it is coming barely 72 hours after the governor, Dr Alex Otti visited the erosion site to see things for himself.”
Contributing, the director general, Greater Aba Development Authority, Uche Ukeje said the job would include stopping the erosion from further encroachment and reclaiming the devastated area.
