A barrier has been erected around a Banksy piece described as ‘criminal damage’ since it was unveiled in London yesterday.
People have flocked to take photos of the school of piranhas painted on the windows of a City of London Police box since it appeared on Sunday morning.
Some have even climbed inside for the perfect pose in pictures seen on social media.
But access has been cut off since a barrier was erected around the police box, located on Ludgate Hill.
Police described the Banksy mural as ‘criminal damage’ yesterday, telling Metro: ‘We are liaising with the City of London Corporation who own the police box.’
The painting’s future is yet to be decided.
A spokesperson for the City of London Corporation told Metro: ‘We’re aware of the works on the City of London Police Box on Ludgate Hill. We are currently working through options to preserve the artwork.’
The piranha painting is the seventh of eight murals unveiled by Banksy since Monday last week.

A rhinoceros mounting a parked car, with a traffic cone on its hood, appeared on the wall of an industrial site in south east London this morning.
The first work last Monday shows a mountain goat precariously balancing on a pillar as rocks fall below it on Kew Green in Richmond, southwest London.
The second shows two elephants poking their heads out of blocked-out windows on Esther Terrace, Chelsea, west London and the third shows three monkeys swinging along a bridge on Brick Lane in east London.
