Music has changed Ed Sheeran’s life in many ways but the star believes it’s also given his love life a huge boost.
The Shivers hitmaker, whose music was disparaged by Sir Rod Stewart earlier this year, has been a firm fixture in the charts since the early 2010s.
He has released some of the biggest hits in recent history since his debut single, The A Team, including Perfect, Thinking Out Loud and Shape of You.
It seems Ed believes this chart-topping status may have helped his game, tapping into that infamous attention rockstars tend to attract.
Move over Beatlesmania, the 33-year-old singer has declared he would ‘be a virgin’ without the help of his music.
Poking fun at himself on Instagram, he shared a clip in which he was sat playing Pokemon on a Nintendo Switch hooked up to a giant arena screen.

‘If I wasn’t a musician, I would be a virgin,’ Ed quipped before the camera panned to an Ivysaur in the middle of a Pokemon battle.
In the caption, he added: ‘Pokemon Stadium in the stadium #superawesomewickedcool #wannacometomybirthdayparty #itlbefunpromise #cake.’
One fan was quick to point out that this contradicts his claims from his 2015 autobiography, in which he said he had never played video games growing up.
‘We didn’t own a video games console and I honestly think that was one of the best things my mum never did,’ Ed wrote in Ed Sheeran: A Visual Journey.
‘So all the time that my friends were playing Grand Theft Auto, I was sat there practising the guitar over and over and over again.

‘To this day, I don’t know what to do on an Xbox or a PlayStation.’
Clearly, at some point, a kind soul has taught Ed the joys of gaming with the beloved Nintendo franchise.
Ed is now married to Cherry Seaborn, who he began dating in 2015, and together they have two daughters; Lyra Antarctica, four, and Jupiter, two.
We suspect Ed is underselling his charm here — after all, Cherry is one of the A-Team singer’s childhood friends.
The Perfect star isn’t the first British icon to declare they’d be a ‘virgin’ without fame though as footballer Peter Crouch made the same joke years ago.
Even in the music world, Ed is not alone as the one and only Harry Styles said the same thing in 2020.
Yes, the former One Direction heartthrob believed had he not had his X Factor success he would also be far less successful with his romantic pursuits.
Harry, 30, responded rather cheekily to Radio.com asking if he wasn’t a musician, ‘what would he be’.
To which he smirked and said: ‘Virgin.’

In 2011, he gave a similar answer in which he admitted he thought girls would find him ugly if he wasn’t stood next to bandmates Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik.
The then 17-year-old megastar said: ‘If I wasn’t in the band I reckon I’d be a virgin.’
Fan Miri pointed out Harry’s remarks to Ed, to which he joked: ‘Yeah but who do you believe, let’s be honest.’
