Another week of clouds after short burst of summer weather

The UK is facing grey clouds again as the Met Office predicts ‘sunshine and showers’ over the next few days.

Brits enjoyed a few days of scorching summer sun this week before the UK is expected to be plunged back into rainy days, the Met Office reports.

Parts of the UK face a Yellow weather warning today, with heavy rain predicted to disrupt travel across western Scotland.

Northern Ireland is also expected to see a humid start to Monday, with outbreaks of heavy rain.

London is forecast to reach highs of 22°C with cloudy skies for much of the day, but Cardiff is expected to see some sun poking through.

The Met Office have said that the recent heatwave conditions are ‘subsiding’ which will see the UK facing a ‘cooler airmass’ and ‘persistent rain’.

Met Office Chief Meteorologist Andy Page explained the change the UK is seeing in weather patterns: ‘The recent influence of high pressure on the UK’s weather is now subsiding and is being replaced by more of a dominant westerly weather regime.

‘This is seeing temperatures dip back towards average for the time of year for many but will also open the door to some more persistent rain into northwestern areas in the coming days.’

Comedy fans heading to Edinburgh’s Fringe Festival may want to pack a hoodie as the city will be seeing a cloudy week, with highs of 21°C expected today.

Towards the end of the week, the city will face showers, but hopefully the laughs will be enough to lift people’s spirits!

On Thursday evening, almost a month’s worth of rain fell in an hour in Greater London, reported the Met Office.
