Police and the fire service were called to a property in Huddersfield
A woman has died and two young girls are fighting for their lives after a house fire in West Yorkshire.
A 31-year-old woman and two girls aged 8 and 10 were taken to hospital with life threatening injuries after emergency services were called to a home in Huddersfield at 2.24am today.
The adult woman died from her injuries while the two girls remain in critical condition, West Yorkshire Police said.
Officers have said they are treating the fire as suspicious but they are not looking for anyone in connection with the incident.
Detective Chief Inspector James Entwistle said: ‘Our thoughts go out to everyone affected by this tragic incident.
‘Specially trained officers are supporting the family.
‘Whilst we are not currently looking for anyone else in connection with the incident, we are still keen to speak to anyone who was in the area this morning, who may have seen something to come forward with information.
‘A scene remains in place whilst enquiries are carried out.’
In east London three children died after a blaze ripped through a family home on July 13.
One child was found dead inside the terraced family home on Napier Road, East Ham, where a fire had broken out around 8.30am.
The other two young victims were taken to hospital but could not be saved.
Police said that two other people remain in hospital while a third person has been discharged and is being treated as an outpatient.
They said all six are thought to be from the same family and lived at the house together.
