A top politician and a former Commissioner for Higher Education in Delta State, Joan Onyemachi Mrapkpor, popularly known as ‘Ada Anioma’, has been abducted by unknown persons.
Mrapkpor, who is a former member of the Federal House of Representatives, was abducted inside her church during church service.
LEADERSHIP gathered that the incident occurred right inside the church, located off Delta Broadcasting Service (DBS) in Asaba, the capital of Delta State.
An eyewitness said: “There was a commotion inside her church close to police headquarters, DBS Road.
“We all ran due to the heavy gun shooting. It just happened about a few minutes ago; one aide was shot dead, and a security personnel is unconscious now.”
Meanwhile, the Delta State Police Command’s spokesman, SP Bright Edafe, has confirmed the abduction and casualty involved.
Speaking on the incident, the Police Spokesman said the command lost one of its officers in the attack.
SP Edafe added that the Police Command was on the trail of the abductors and would give more details of the incident in due course.
