Legendary Roxy Music frontman Bryan Ferry has announced the release of a new album.
The 81-track collection – called Retrospective: Selected Recordings 1973-2023 – will span Ferry’s remarkable 50-year career in music and include never before heard recordings.
Set to release on October 25, 2024, via BMG, this compilation offers an extensive look at his artistic journey and evolution, from his time with Roxy Music to his successful solo career.
Born on September 26, 1945, in County Durham, Bryan Ferry first rose to fame in the early 1970s as the lead vocalist and principal songwriter for the glam rock band Roxy Music.
The band’s debut album, Roxy Music (1972), was a critical and commercial success. It included hits like Virginia Plain and Love is the Drug, helping to propel the band to stardom.
In 1973, Ferry launched his solo career with the release of his debut album, These Foolish Things, which featured covers of classic songs. Over the decades, he has released numerous iconic albums, including the chart-topping Boys and Girls (1985), which solidified that he was as effective as a solo artist as he was as a band leader.

Retrospective: Selected Recordings 1973-2023 will be available in multiple formats, including a five-CD deluxe box set, which is accompanied by a 100-page hardback book containing extensive new liner notes and previously unseen photographs and imagery.
This comprehensive collection highlights different facets of Ferry’s career, with each CD dedicated to a distinct theme.
The first disc, The Best of Bryan Ferry, features 20 of his most well-known songs, such as Slave to Love and Let’s Stick Together.
The second disc, titled Compositions, explores his work from 1977 to 2014, exploring his development as a songwriter.

Interpretations, the third disc, includes Ferry’s covers of classics like the Velvet Underground’s What Goes On and Otis Redding’s That’s How Strong My Love Is.
The fourth disc, The Bryan Ferry Orchestra, delves into the conceptual project Ferry began with his 2012 album The Jazz Age” which reimagined his music in a 1920s jazz style.
Finally, the fifth disc, Rare and Unreleased, gathers B-sides and outtakes, including a remake of Roxy Music’s Mother of Pearl, recorded in the early 1990s.
Additionally, the digital edition of the collection features a new song titled Star, marking Ferry’s first new music release in over a decade.

Fans can also look forward to a reimagining of Bob Dylan’s 1965 classic She Belongs to Me, part of a new five-track EP that will accompany the collection. This EP is the first of three digital EP releases that will complement the comprehensive retrospective.
Bryan Ferry’s influence on music and fashion has been profound, with his suave image and innovative approach to songwriting and performance leaving an indelible mark on the industry.
