Simone Biles is back in action at the Olympics later today hoping to guide the USA to gold medal glory in the women’s team final.
The gymnastics superstar put in a sensational performance in the qualifying event on Sunday, registering the highest marks on the vault and floor.
But it wasn’t all plain sailing for Biles, who at one stage left the arena appearing to struggle with a leg injury – but her coach has alleviated any fears and has insisted the complaint is only minor.
The 27 year-old will be hoping to put the Olympic experience of three years ago in Tokyo behind her, with her struggles with the ‘twisties’ seeing her produce a number of vaults well below her usual level.

Biles subsequently withdrew from several other events in the Japan games and she ultimately ended up taking a two-year break from the sport.

The USA will be looking to reclaim the gold medal they were beaten to by the Russian Olympic Committee in Tokyo.
Biles has also qualified for the individual all-around final, where she will compete against fellow USA star and defending Olympic champion Sunisa Lee.
This will mark the first time that the all-around final will feature two former Olympic champions.
Biles will also appear in four apparatus finals – vault, uneven bar, balance beam and floor exercise.

How many Olympic medals has Simone Biles won?
Biles has won seven Olympic medals in total in her career; four gold, one silver and two bronze.
Her first games in Rio saw her win an incredible five, with four gold (team, all-around, vault, floor) and one bronze (balance beam) when she was just 19 years old.
Despite her torrid time in Tokyo, Biles still emerged with a silver (team) and bronze (balance beam).
Biles can now boast 37 Olympic and world championship medals from her stellar career – and who would bet against her adding more over the next few days in the French capital.
