The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), has deployed personnel to safeguard all critical national assets and infrastructure ahead of the planned nationwide protest.
This was contained in a press statement signed by the spokesman of the Jigawa State Command, ASC. Badruddeen Tijjani Mahmud issued to DAILY POST.
He said the state commandant, Muhammad Danjuma directed all the Area Commanders and Divisional officers to engage all critical stakeholders in their Area of Responsibility (AoR) with a view to creating awareness on the implications of what the protest might cause.
Commandant Danjuma emphasised the importance of maintaining peace and stability, urging the youth to engage in sober reflections on the current security situation in Jigawa State.
According to him, “We recognise the right to peaceful protest as a fundamental democratic principle.
“However, the protection of our state’s vital assets and infrastructure is paramount. We have increased our vigilance and readiness to ensure the safety and security of all residents and properties.”
He said the command was coordinating with other security agencies to provide a robust security presence at key locations.
The state Commandant said the aim was to prevent any potential disruptions and ensure that the planned protest proceeded without incident.
“We urge the youth and all citizens of Jigawa State to consider the broader implications of their actions,” he stated.
