Former Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) South Africa chapter, Joe Oyoh, has insisted that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu lacks the requisite capacity to solve the myriad problems impeding the country’s efforts to attain greatness.
He maintained that the present federal government, controlled by the APC, has failed as its economic policies have impoverished citizens and set the country on a path of backwardness.
Oyoh expressed his views in a statement on Tuesday, following the escalating economic crisis ravaging the country.
He criticised the National Assembly’s approval for the procurement of new presidential fleets for the president and vice president, questioning why such approval is coming when citizens are wallowing in abject poverty, hunger, and insecurity.
According to him, “Our education and health systems have gone comatose. It amounts to deceit that political office holders entrusted with the people’s mandate could contemplate acquiring new flights for the president and his vice at this moment when workers are demanding improved welfare.
“This kind of approval shouldn’t have come at a time when citizens are at the receiving end and feeling the harsh effects of oil subsidy removal, naira devaluation, food inflation, terror attacks and the rest,” he stated.
Oyoh admonished Nigerian leaders to rise to the occasion and pursue policies and programmes that will mitigate the suffering of the people, adding that citizens are angry and may revolt against bad governance in the country.
