It’s official: Lady Gaga is back on the studio.
The American pop superstar, 38, hasn’t worked on any new solo material since 2020’s Chromatica, which spawned huge hits such as Stupid Love and Rain On Me.
But a brand new post on social media has got fans excited, with the Poker Face hitmaker revealing that she’s busy working on her next big project.
She captioned a studio snap on Instagram: ‘Just me in the studio – happy as ever making music. Feel so grateful, heart is peaceful. It’s like meditation. I can’t wait for you to hear what I’m working on.’
While she did work on the soundtrack for Top Gun: Maverick, recording the song Hold My Hand which played over the end credits, any new music would be her first solo release in almost half a decade.
Speaking in May ahead of the release of her concert movie Gaga Chromatica Ball, she teased fans with the possibility of new music coming their way.

‘I have written so many songs and I have produced so many songs. It’s nothing like anything that I’ve ever made before. There’s something really beautiful about knowing that you will be loved no matter what you do.’
Naturally, her fans – who call themselves Monsters – were ecstatic at the news, with famous faces such as Kesha and drag queen Courtney Act sharing their excitement.
Kesha shouted ‘Feed us mother!’ while Courtney, who was a runner-up on the sixth season of RuPaul’s Drag Race, simply said: ‘We can’t wait either.’

Even French actress Marion Cotillard couldn’t contain her excitement, declaring that she was ‘Super ready!’ to receive whatever Gaga puts out next.
The Born This Way singer, whose real name is Stefani Germanotta, has already released six solo albums in the last 16 years, with three additional collaborative albums on top.
She burst onto the scene in 2008 with her debut album The Fame and its massive lead singles Just Dance and Poker Face, which both topped the charts.
The success of The Fame spawned The Fame Monster, a mini-album that contained smash hits Bad Romance, Telephone (with Beyoncé), and Alejandro.

Her second full album Born This Way continued her success into the 2010s, before her 2013 release Artpop topped the album charts on both sides of the Atlantic.
Following Artpop, Gaga significantly altered her image and released Joanne in 2016, which paid tribute to her father’s sister, who had died aged 19 back in the 1970s.
While Artpop and Joanne didn’t produce any number-one singles, it was her work with Bradley Cooper on the soundtrack to 2018 movie A Star is Born that sent her back to the top of the charts with the song Shallow.
Shallow went on to win the Academy Award for Best Original Song in 2019, which led right into the success of Chromatica, with the single Rain On Me (featuring Ariana Grande) topping the UK charts.
Away from the studio, it’s not long now until fans will get to see Lady Gaga star alongside Joaquin Phoenix in the long-awaited sequel to Joker.
The film, which releases in October, will see Gaga return to the big screen as Harley Quinn – for anyone intrigued, the Joker sequel is also a musical.
