World Cup winning coach Joachim Low has reportedly thrown his hat into the ring to replace Gareth Southgate as the next England manager.
The quest to find Southgate’s successor is on after he announced his resignation on Tuesday following the Euro 2024 final defeat, bringing to an end his amazing eight-year spell in charge.
Eddie Howe and Graham Potter have emerged as the early favourites for the job, while England Under-21 head coach Lee Carsley is also being considered in either an interim or permanent capacity.
The Football Association, though, have reportedly made it clear that they are also willing to consider foreign candidates for the first time since Fabio Capello.
Former Premier League managers Thomas Tuchel and Mauricio Pochettino have been linked, with both available after leaving their respective jobs at the end of last season.
However, another potential candidate has emerged after The Sun reported that former Germany boss Low would be interested in discussing the position.
The 64-year-old was in charge of the German side for 15 years, most famously guiding the national team to World Cup glory in Brazil in 2014.

However, he has been out of a job since Euro 2020 having left the national team post following his side’s 2-0 defeat to England in the round of 16.
It came just three years after Germany suffered a humiliating group-stage exit at the 2018 World Cup in Russia where they were attempting to defend their crown.
England, who are next in action against Republic of Ireland on 7 September, are not expected to rush into an appointment and may hire an interim manager if it means they eventually get their preferred candidate.
One person who appears unlikely to take the job is Tottenham boss who emerged as a shock contender before distancing himself from the job on Wednesday.
‘I’m the Tottenham manager and I’ve got nothing else [on my mind] but trying to bring success to this football club. And until I do that there’s no point in me thinking about anything else,’ he told Sky Sports.
‘That’s where my focus is completely. I had a nap this afternoon mate. I have no idea what’s going on [with the rumours].’
