Edo 2024: Federal high court affirms Asue Ighodalo as PDP candidate

Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court in Abuja, on Wednesday confirmed Dr. Asue Ighodalo as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)’s duly nominated and authentic governorship candidate in Edo State.

Omotosho, in delivering judgment in the suit CS/469/24, held that Dr. Ighodalo was duly nominated at the PDP’s 22 February primaries in Benin City.

He then rejected the complaint brought against his nomination by the Plaintiff, the impeached former deputy governor, Philip Shaibu.

Ighodalo emerged the gubernatorial candidate of the PDP in a primary election conducted on 22 February 2024, at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City.

He received a total of 577 votes to defeat his closest challenger, Philip Shaibu and 10 other contenders.
