Deputy Speaker commends Southeast governors for committment to development of region

Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, has commended Southeast governors for their commitment to the development of the Southeast and the priority they accord to the restoration of peace and security.

Kalu, who represents Bende Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, made the commendation while addressing members and supporters of the APC at a rally held in Abakiliki, the Ebonyi State capital, during the weekend.

He disclosed that efforts are ongoing for the creation of an additional state in the Southeast region as well as the release of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.

While highlighting the federal government’s achievements in various sectors of the economy and its inclusivity, the Deputy Speaker insisted that it had become imperative for the people of the Southeast zone to continue to amass support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led administration.

“The alignment of the Southeast with the federal government is non-negotiable,” he said.

Kalu encouraged Southeasterners to continue promoting peace and unity to be able to engender growth and prosperity.

Kalu applauded Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru and the chairman of the Progressive Forum, Senator Hope Uzodinma, for their untiring efforts in sustaining the democratic gains of the APC and improving its fortunes in the region.

He assured that party leaders and stakeholders would work to make the party stronger and more united in the Southeast.
