Spain coach, Luis de la Fuente, has backed midfielder Rodri to win the 2024 Ballon d’Or.
De la Fuente believes the 28-year-old deserves to win the top individual award after guiding Spain yo win the Euro 2024 trophy in Germany.
He spoke after Spain defeated England 2-2 in the Euro 2024 final at the Olympiastadion in Berlin on Sunday night.
Nico Williams gave Spain the lead in the 47th minute before Cole Palmer equalized some minutes later.
Mikel Oyarzabal then broke English hearts with his 86th-minute winner.
In the final, Rodri had to be replaced at halftime by Martin Zubimendi.
However, the Manchester City star took home the Player of the Tournament award.
Speaking after the game, De la Fuente said (via Tribal Football):
“Also, Zubimendi replacing the best player in the world, please Rodri Ballon d’Or now.”
