Harry Kane will hope to win the very first trophy of his career when England take on Spain in the Euro 2024 final this evening.

The Bayern Munich man has had a hit and miss Euro 2024 campaign in Germany, but stands on the cusp of winning the Golden Boot if he can find the net vs the Spaniards in Berlin.

Kane has scored three goals for the Three Lions in the tournament, level with Spain’s Dani Olmo, with his opener vs Denmark in the group stages followed up by the winner vs Slovakia in the Round of 16 and then a penalty to draw England level vs the Dutch in the semis.

But exactly how many goals has Kane scored for England and how does he compare to the other top goalscorers in the team’s history?

How many goals has Harry Kane scored for England?

Kane has scored 66 goals in 97 appearances for England.

The former Spurs man surpassed the previous record held by Wayne Rooney (53) during the 2-1 away win against Italy in Naples in March 2023.

His very first goal for England came just minutes into his debut against Lithuania as a second-half substitute in March 2015.

Kane only scored two goals at the World Cup in 2022 – against Senegal in the Round of 16 as well as his first penalty against France in the last eight.

His first World Cup tournament in Russia back in 2018 was far more fruitful, with Kane scoring six goals as England reached the semi-finals to earn himself the golden boot.

Kane became just the second English player in history to win the iconic individual award, following on from Gary Lineker at the 1986 World Cup in Mexico.

The striker’s first major tournament in a Three Lions shirt was Euro 2016, but his four appearances in France failed to yield a goal.

Kane became England captain in 2018, taking over from Rooney just before the World Cup.

Kane’s tally includes five hat-tricks, with only Jimmy Greaves having scored more for the Three Lions with six to his name.

Of Kane’s 66 goals for England, 22 of them have been scored from the penalty spot.

Top scorers in England’s history

Kane and Rooney are the only two men to have passed half a century of goals for England, whilst Sir Bobby Charlton, Gary Lineker, Greaves and Michael Owen have all reached at least 40.

The 3-1 victory over the Azzurri last October saw Kane set yet another record, with Kane overtaking the late Sir Bobby Charlton to become the England player with the most goals ever scored at Wembley.
