On Sunday night, either England or Spain will win Euro 2024 and get their hands on one of the most prestigious trophies in football history.
Since the very first European Championship in 1960, the winner of the tournament has been awarded with the iconic Henri Delaunay Trophy which will be theirs to keep for the next four years.
In Berlin, it will be either Harry Kane or Alvaro Morata who will get the honour of lifting the cup, with a trophy parade through London planned if the Three Lions emerge victorious.

Here’s everything you need to know about the trophy:
Why is it called the Henri Delaunay trophy? History explained
The trophy is named after Henri Delaunay, UEFA’s first general secretary who envisioned the European Championship but passed away in 1955, just before the inaugural competition.
His son, Pierre Delaunay, was put in charge of creating the trophy, which went unaltered until 2008 when it was remodelled and made larger having been dwarfed by the new Champions League trophy.
Among the Euros winning captains to have lifted the trophy are Franz Beckenbauer, Michel Platini, Ruud Gullit, Jurgen Klinsmann, Didier Deschamps, Iker Casillas, Cristiano Ronaldo and most recently Italy’s Giorgio Chiellini.

What is it made out of and how much does it weigh?
The trophy is made out of sterling silver and was made at a cost of around €15,000.
Since the 2008 remodel, the trophy weighs 8kg (17.6lb) and is 60cm (23.6in) tall, an increase of 2kg (4.4lb) and 18cm (7in).

Design
Much of the design of the original trophy was carried over to the 2008 remodel, courtesy of luxury designer Asprey London.
The words ‘UEFA European Football Championship’ and the UEFA logo are engraved on the front, while the names of the winning countries are on the back accompanied by an image of a juggling boy.

Perhaps the biggest difference from the original trophy is the silver base being enlarged to make it more stable, while the marble plinth which originally bore the names of the winners was removed.
In addition to the trophy, the winning team will receive 40 gold medals for the players and coaching staff, with the runners-up getting silver medals.
