Another day of heavy rain is set to fall across the UK this weekend, casting further doubt on Wimbledon and Sunday’s Grand Prix.
Patchy rain is expected throughout the north and east on Saturday, with the southwest England and Wales at risk of heavy showers.
It comes as the UK recovers from the torrential downpours which drenched parts of Devon and Cornwall on Friday, prompting the Met Office to issue a yellow thunderstorm alert.
Conditions will continue to feel unsettled for many throughout Saturday, with a mixture of cloudy skies and sporadic outbreaks of rain throughout the rest of the country.
Cloudy skies are expected in the east of the country, while some brighter conditions are likely in the west, though these brighter skies bring the potential for further showers.

Met Office Chief Meteorologist Steven Ramsdale said: ‘The weekend’s weather starts with a continuation of recent days, with an unsettled feel for many. Rain will be more frequent in eastern areas, whilst conditions are more showery elsewhere though a good deal of cloud for many.
‘However, there’s a drier interlude building in from the west on Sunday which will reduce the frequency of showers compared with previous days and introduce some sunshine for many. Temperatures are likely to peak around 22°C in the southeast, which is a return to near average for the time of year after the recent cool spell.’
Merseyside and North Wales are also under a yellow weather warning until 10am on Sunday morning, with the Met Office warning of potential travel disruption or flooding at the start of the day due to the weather conditions.
There is also a chance of thunder in western parts of the country, as temperatures peak at around 17°C to 19°C.

Met Office meteorologist Simon Partridge said: ‘[Sunday] is sunshine and showers across the whole of the UK, but not quite as windy as Saturday,’ Sky News reported.
He added: ‘There will probably be disruption to play across Wimbledon, mainly in the afternoon. Wimbledon will mostly be dry in the morning, and the same with the Grand Prix.’
