The Senate Chief Whip, Ali Ndume (APC-Borno South), on Tuesday, criticized President Bola Tinubu’s leadership style, suggesting that his closed-door policy has contributed to the country’s woes.
Ndume, in an interview with BBC Hausa, claimed that even some ministers are unable to meet with the President, let alone National Assembly members who seek to discuss constituency issues.
He said, “The major problem with this government is that its doors are closed, to the extent that even some ministers cannot see the President, not to mention members of the National Assembly, who do not have the opportunity to meet with him and discuss the issues affecting their constituencies.”
Ndume attributed the government’s failure to address rising living costs and food scarcity to this lack of accessibility.

He urged Tinubu to take immediate action, warning that the situation could lead to famine and starvation, particularly among children. The senator’s comments highlight concerns about the President’s communication style and its impact on governance.
“We want to draw the government’s attention to the fact that Nigeria is not only facing a high cost of living but also food scarcity.”
