The Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the February 2023 general election, Peter Gregory Obi, has said that accumulating wealth without caring for the poor is futile, as no one takes anything to the grave.
He charged fellow politicians and those in positions of authority to use their wealth to uplift the standard of living and reduce poverty in the country.
Obi gave this advice on Monday at the Grimard School of Nursing and Midwifery, Anyigba, in the Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State.
“We politicians should realise that the money in our care does not belong to us but to the people, and we should spend it to uplift their standard of living,” he said.

“The money is not our own; it belongs to the people. We are under obligation to spend it for the people.”
He donated N10 million to the school and promised to provide a borehole to serve the school and the host community of Anyigba.
Earlier, the Catholic Bishop of Idah Diocese, Anthony Ademu Adaji, praised Obi’s passion for education, as exemplified by the performance of schools during his tenure as Governor of Anambra State.
“His investment in education was legendary and reflected in the performance of students throughout his tenure as governor,” he said.
Obi also visited Ankpa and Olamaboro local government areas, where he commissioned two multi-million naira boreholes to serve the communities.
