Former Manchester United defender, Rio Ferdinand, has hailed Cristiano Ronaldo and Pepe after Portugal were eliminated from Euro 2024.
Roberto Martinez’s men lost 5-3 on penalties to France on Friday night, after the game ended 0-0 after 120 minutes.
After the match, Pepe could be seen in tears as Ronaldo consoled him.
The defender became the oldest player at the European Championship at 41 years, while Ronaldo himself is 39. This could be their last tournament with the national team.
Ferdinand said on TNT Sports: “It is testament to those guys [Cristiano Ronaldo and Pepe], the professionalism and dedication to their craft.
“To get to that stage of a tournament at that age and to perform, especially Pepe – huge respect.”
