A 19-year-old British tourist has been raped while on a night out in Lisbon, according to a police report.

The teenager told authorities she was attacked by an employee in a backroom of the K Urban Beach nightclub, a riverside venue near the centre of the Portuguese capital.

Her friends alerted police just before 5am on Thursday morning.

The young woman was taken to hospital to be treated by a specialist doctor.

The club’s manager, Paulo Damaso, told local media: ‘We have already launched an internal inquiry and as part of that inquiry the worker in question will be interviewed.

‘He claims the sexual relationship with the complainant was consensual.

‘Whether that is the case or not it’s something we repudiate for having allegedly occurred within our installations.’

Police confirmed they are ‘investigating an alleged rape’ in which the victim ‘is a 19-year-old British woman who appears to have been on holiday in Portugal’.

The club features a dance area with a swimming pool as well as a rooftop bar and an exclusive area where guests reserve tables.

It describes itself online as the ‘hottest night club in Lisbon where the party never stops’.

Revellers are encouraged to ‘get ready for a night filled with energetic beats and epic DJ sets that will keep you dancing all night long’.
