Jurgen Klopp has named his favourites to win Euro 2024 and has made a confident England prediction ahead of Saturday’s quarter final against Switzerland.

The former Liverpool manager is currently enjoying his sabbatical having moved to Spain after stepping down at the end of last season.

Despite having opted to take a break from football, Klopp has been keeping a keen eye on events in his native Germany with the tournament now having reached the business end.

The hosts meet Spain in a blockbuster last eight tie on Friday, before pre-tournament favourites France will lock horns with Portugal and the misfiring Cristiano Ronaldo.

Stuttering England meet in-form Switzerland on Saturday, while another surprise package Turkey will be underdogs again when they meet improving Netherlands.

Klopp admits he has been impressed by Spain so far with La Roja having breezed through their group, before sweeping Georgia aside having been forced to come from behind.

England, by contrast, have limped through following a series of turgid performances but Klopp still regards the Three Lions as a serious threat to the likes of Spain and Germany.

‘At the moment it looks like Spain can do it,’ Klopp told ESPN’s Agos Larocca.

He added: ‘But Germany is good, France is good, and England will be better, definitely.’

Liverpool, meanwhile, are starting to get used to life without the charismatic Klopp at the helm, with the Reds readying themselves for a pre-season campaign under new boss Arne Slot.

The stress and strain of preparing a squad for the grueling campaign ahead is a world away from Klopp’s current situation as he eases his way into his new life in his Mallorca £3.4million ‘ecological family paradise’ villa.

Asked what he likes most about the island, he said: What do you like about this island? ‘Where can I start? I like everything about it, to be honest, but I’m not long enough here yet. We try to figure out what we like the most.’
