Kano govt counters NCDC’s claim of cholera outbreak

The Kano State Public Relations Officer, Ministry of Health, Ibrahim Abdullahi, on Wednesday, debunked reports claiming that the state is battling a Cholera outbreak.

DAILY POST recalls that the Nigeria Centre for Disease and Prevention, NCDC, listed Kano among the 31 states battling an outbreak of the disease.

NCDC said about 1,141 cases were recorded between January and June 11, 2024, while 65 have been confirmed.

According to the agency, 1,288 cases have been recorded while a total of 34 deaths have been confirmed.

However, Abdullahi said the state’s medical records show that the state is cholera-free.

He said, “According to our findings so far, there is no cholera outbreak in Kano. We don’t have a single case as of now.

“We have seen some reports in the media but we can categorically tell you that there is none.”
