Head of Service of the Federation, Dr. Folashade Yemi-Esan has rejected in its entirety the notion that servants are sycophants.
Addressing the press on Wednesday as part of the events outlined for the 2024 civil service week, the HoS said though civil servants were obligated to serve any government, they were not sycophantic.
According to her, any civil servant being sycophantic for any reason does not know their job, adding that workers at all levels have been equipped to carry out their duties with confidence.
“I disagree completely with [the notion] that civil servants are sycophants. Yes, we serve any government in power but definitely, civil servants are sycophants.
“Anybody that knows their job can never be a sycophant. It is when you don’t know your job or you’re unsure of what you’re doing that you’ll dance to this tune or that tune.
“We’re imputing a lot of courage and confidence in civil servants. They’re not doing ‘boy boy’ to anybody. Don’t call us sycophants. We don’t agree with that,” she said.
