Foremost fast-rising actor and saxophonist Genesis Odeh, left a lasting impression on the audience with his remarkable saxophone skills at a gospel concert recently.
This performance which took place in the United Kingdom gave an insight into dynamics, tempo, pitch and tonality.
There is no doubt that only skilled instrumentalists and singers get the opportunity of being hired to perform for most general overseers of global churches.
Odeh , who through times has contributed to gospel music, has been on stage for the past 10 years gaining experience both in Nigeria and in the diaspora, as his piece has echoed a lot of memories in the hearts of many.
The Saxophonist, after his performance at Wind of Change Joint Service Pierrepont Farnham, United Kingdom, said “I had the urge to look at the art of skilled saxophonist in contributing to the overall aesthetic of performance.
He explained that it was obvious in the display that the saxophone melody was an important bridge, building a connection between the singer and the audience.
It fills up the space and keeps the audience in expectancy. It is also noted that the volume of the saxophone compliments the singer giving a vibrant feel as the saxophone stands as a strong layer in the music.
It is important to note that backup saxophonist should understand what pitch to utilise when playing along with the lead singer and other instrumentalist,” he said.
He said that the singer’s Pitch has continually directed his play, saying that there is no doubt that art, especially music is beyond just playing, but understanding each layer of music and how it works.
