Horrific footage has revealed the moment an alligator was shot to death after dragging a woman into a canal and eating her.

41-year-old Sabrina Peckham was eaten by the huge reptile after being pulled away from the encampment where she was staying in Clearwater, Florida.

The mum was homeless at the time and she had been living close to where the alligator was eventually found and killed.

Members of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and local police shot the alligator, which had a visibly swollen stomach after eating the woman.

Sabrina was killed by the alligator in September 2023, but bodycam footage of the moment the reptile was shot and killed has only just been released.

A passerby called police after spotting the reptile with what appeared to be a body in its mouth – and not long after several other people reported the horrific sight.

Video shows the huge gator surrounded by police moments after it was shot to death.

Its mouth was taped shut and ropes and chains were used to pull it from the canal, MailOnline reports.

‘Watch them, watch them,’ a voice is heard shouting before the trigger is pulled with a bang and a splash.

Officials described it as having been ‘humanely killed’.

They then had to cut the alligator’s stomach open to remove some of Sabrina’s remains.

Following the death, Sabrina’s daughter Breauana Dorris was forced to deny that her mother had been taunting the reptile.

She said in a Facebook post: ‘My mother was a part of the homeless population that lived in the nearby wooded area.

‘It is believed that she may have been walking to or from her camp site near the creek in the dark and the alligator attacked from the water.

‘We expected to have many many more years with her. Unfortunately god has called her home sooner than our hearts were ready.’
