A woman hired for a revenge killing wore a hijab to disguise herself, it has been claimed.
Aimee Betro, 44, was hired to kill someone in Birmingham by Mohammed Nazir, 30, and Mohammed Aslam, 56, and jetted over from the USA to commit the crime, a court has heard.
After landing in the UK, she disguised herself in a hijab and tried to shoot Sikander Ali on September 7, 2019, but her weapon jammed.
West Midlands Police said threatening messages were sent and an attempt was made to lure the victim to meet with the group, but when he didn’t leave, Betro fired three shots at his home
She also texted Mr Ali’s father and asked ‘where are you hiding?’ before fleeing back to Chicago, Illinois.
Nazir and Aslam, both from Derby, have been found guilty of conspiracy to murder after standing trial at Birmingham Crown Court.

Betro allegedly later sent Mr Ali’s father a text reading: ‘You want to rip me off, you want to be a drug kingpin go look at your house. I will show you. Watch your back. I will be shedding blood soon.’
Before attempting to murder Mr Ali, Betro stayed in hotels across the UK -in Birmingham, Brighton, Derby and London.
She then fled the UK on September 9, 2019, and has been missing since.
Nazir and Aslam reportedly wanted to kill Mr Ali and his family after a dispute at a clothing shop in 2019.
Both men will be sentenced on August 9.
A Derbyshire Police spokesperson said: ‘That nobody died as a result of Aslam and Nazir’s actions is through nothing other than sheer good fortune.
‘Their plan was to kill and had it not been for the gun jamming, then there is a good chance this would have been a murder investigation.
‘The importation of firearms is an extremely serious offence, and in this case the purpose was to frame their target in revenge for a previous incident.
‘As a police service, we will do everything we can to target those who aim to bring these weapons into our communities and bring them to justice.’
